...Ordinary, Safe and Happy to Be on the Right Side: An exhibition to encourage discourse around the practice of Extraordinary Rendition.
I was approached by artist Tim Guthrie to do the graphic design for the show. Based on a good amount of research and our general feelings about the subject matter, the design became half soothing hyperbole, half bureaucratic how-to guide.
The role of the artist is to transcend conventional wisdom, to transcend the word of the establishment, to transcend the orthodoxy, to go beyond and escape what is handed down by the government or what is said in the media. [Howard Zinn, Artists in Times of War].
