For the people I get to work with all the time, or just some times, or every now and then, I am really thankful for you all. Without you, all this design work collects dust on some old hard drives in the basement. Because of you, the work gets to be seen and make its mark on the world. That’s a pretty special thing. It makes these days exciting. So to all of you, a heartfelt note of thanks, and a cheers for what’s to come.
TEDx @ 1 Year
Last year on this day I was a bundle of stress and nerves waiting for my time in the red circle. It was quite a challenge, very intense, the day itself a blur, and a rewarding experience. On the power of images, messaging and intention, current events, graphic design, and file types. More on the journey here. Check out the talk on YouTube.
Use the Tools
In our current age of social media, I find myself becoming increasingly annoyed at not only its ubiquity but also its constant, ever-changing rules of play. But then I remember that 20 year old kid trying to get his vision of this world out there. Back in the early 2000s that was really hard. Now a 40 year old kid who still wants to get his vision of this world out there, using social media is a pretty good way to do that. So that’s what I’ll do. Sure, there will be bitching and moaning at all the negatives, but at the end of the day, I’m going to use the tools at my disposal.
Demo
A series of collages that showcase the big systems surrounding us and defining our days. Assembled with found imagery from various stock sources and the Library of Congress, the imagery is paired with lyrical reflections on how these systems define us — property, currency, the stories we tell, generations, etc.
Conceptualized loosely around the idea of the demo. As in, if I had the time and the talent to make these songs, that’d be ideal. But I don’t, so they’ll exist as pieces of graphic design instead.
